When you buy this art you empower Grant Spanier. Our worldwide community of art lovers have voted for this print to be hung here. At Democratic Gallery the people rule. Not an elite. After all, history has proven that democracy is the best way of running the world. Why should the art world be any different?
Meet Grant Spanier
Has you love for photography changed you in any way?
I fundamentally see and interact with the world in a different way.
””Most of my work flirts with being hypnagogic — that dreamlike moment between awake and asleep. I'm trying to escape our time and find another.”
Would you say there’s a difference between taking photos of famous vs ”ordinary” people?
Artists are used to the camera but all people are capable of making an interesting image — that's my job.
What is it you love about a physical print compared to viewing a photograph on the screen?
The same thing I love about shooting film — it's tactile, it's real, it EXISTS. It's a special feeling.
”Jesus Saves” is an analog double exposure shot by Grant - the model is captured in Los Angeles, he then re-loaded the film and shot the Jesus Saves neon in Chicago. When we scan the film we like to keep some small imperfections like dust and scratches. Sometimes art needs imperfections to be perfect.
